Successful testing of electrical equipment marks a major step for MEH

MEH has successfully conducted the first high-voltage tests on permanent electrical equipment at Hinkley Point C, marking the culmination of nine months of collaboration between various stakeholders, including our designers in France and equipment manufacturers.

The electrical switchboards underwent a stress test by injecting over 22,000 volts using a temporary transformer, and all tests were completed successfully. This achievement represents a significant milestone in MEH’s delivery and enables Hinkley Point C to begin early commissioning activities in preparation for the energisation of the first auxiliary transformer – a major step that will connect the power station to the main electrical grid.

“Well done and congratulations to all involved. The team has worked tirelessly over the last few months to deliver this work in strict compliance with our safety and quality standards. The next step for our team is to continue installation within the building while progressing toward testing and pre-commissioning more equipment.” – Richard T. Davies, Lead Electrical Engineer
