MEH Installs the First Marshalling Cabinet

On 23 February, the MEH Alliance team commenced installation of the first marshalling cabinet in the Unit 1 Electrical Building. Since then, more cabinets have been installed, taking our current total to six electrical cabinets now in place. The momentum is expected to continue, with five more cabinets arriving shortly to site to further support installations planned for the upcoming weeks.

The cabinets are manufactured by Staffordshire-based instrumentation and control specialist, Capula, and are designed by EDF. The instrumentation and control cabinets serve as the connection hub for Hinkley Point C’s control systems, transmitting signals to the main control room. Once live, these cabinets will play a pivotal role in the long-term operations of the power station.

“Seeing the first marshalling cabinets arrive and get set up on site was a fantastic milestone. The collaboration of all stakeholders cannot be underestimated. We will now work on finalising the remaining 450 base builds in 2024, together with over 8,000 cable assemblies that link to Hinkley Point C’s instrumentation and control system.” said John Aitken, MEH Project Manager.

Simon Coombs, Capula Managing Director, also added “It was great to visit HPC site and witness the cabinets being installed. We are continuing to manufacture further components including marshalling cabinets and other connection panels and boxes. I’m pleased that we have the opportunity to contribute to this important programme.”
